A quieter week

....We got a new switch for the steamer

We had expected business to pick up this week, and it seemed to be the case on Monday, but instead it has gone quieter following our closing days on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is the first time that we have closed a couple of days in July, and this simply because we are having staff start a week later than previously, with Richie joining us from Monday. There is no obvious reason for this drop in turnover, though we have to admit that we have seen fewer orchestra members this year. Part of the fault comes from a new chef at the orchestra canteen. Apparently the food is much nicer, so there is less enticement to eat elsewhere., especially at Harold's. Even the restaurant that is providing the catering has seen a drop in their turnover from the orchestra.

In the meantime, we have got Alan's son Sandy to help out in the place. Now that he is 13 and pushing 14, we think that it will do him a world of good to get some working experience as well as have some responsibility. Hansky is loving the authority of teaching him!

Being a quieter week, there is not much else to report. We got a new switch for the steamer quickly that Alan changed, but in point of fact the trouble seems to come from elsewhere, as the machine is still not working properly. So we are now waiting for the company to come up and check the machine out.
