Festival week 1, Elfes, concert dinner, and Hanski

It's been a pretty usual week for the time of year...

Most of the Elfes left on Saturday...ordering 30 cheeseburgers and fries with cokes

Hanski has been off most of the time with her foot problem

At the same, Alan was organizing a special evening for the Swiss-Russian Cultural Foundation and the board meeting for the following day

It's been a pretty usual week for the time of year, with the Verbier Festival Academy students using Harold's as one fo their bases, and the Elfe kids dropping by late afternoon. In the evening we tend to see more orchestra members than in the daytime. And there has been a steady stream of stars coming by for internet or food, including Mischa Maisky, Andrian Brendel, Julian Rachlin, Joshua Bell, Ilya Gringolts, and several others.

Most of the Elfes left on Saturday, and they departed with a bang, coming in on Friday afternoon at 4pm and ordering 30 cheeseburgers and fries with cokes for 5 pm on the dot. Several times they reminded us that it was to be for 5 pm exactly. We told them not to worry, and we got the food out exactly on time...to the minute. Afterwards. one of the kids said "It wasn't good. It was excellent. This is a very good restaurant." Sweet.

But it has nevertheless been a tough week for Alan and even Richie, neither of whom have managed to get time off as Hanski has been off most of the time with her foot problem. At the same, Alan was organizing a special evening for the Swiss-Russian Cultural Foundation and the board meeting for the following day. This comprised of coordinating pick-ups from Martigny of the members and guests, preparing an aperitif for 5 pm on the Tuesday followed by a dinner for 80 guests following the evening concert at 9:30 pm. As it happened, 120 people turned up, but the organization was such that everybody got served and the event was a success, albeit a little chilly. The board meeting the following morning from 11 am also went well, and we put on a barbecue lunch for the members. Needless to say, it was an exhausting experience for Alan, having to coordinate with Harold's at the same time and one staff member down.

The good news, though, is that we have the steamer back!

And we had a client this morning who insisted sitting in the sun on the terrace but wanted us to provide shade for his apple juice!
