The bad weather in the second half of the week
has been beneficial to us, though we do feel sorry for the organizers and
especially the riders of the Downhill Cup (downhill mountain biking) whose
competition has been washed out. Saturday was particularly good at lunch time,
leaving Alan rushing around as Viviane was out-of-town and couldn't come in to
give a hand. Although not a record-breaker, it was still the best day we had
done in a month.
Of course, this comes
on top of the fact that Hanski has come down ill. She was definitely not looking
well when she came in for work on Thursday evening, and inevitably the doctor
took her off work, meaning that Alan has been doing back-to-back shifts, though
with Viviane coming in for a couple of hours a day, giving him a nominal break.
One could have expected George to help out, but, of course, this happened to be
the weekend that he decided to return to the UK. Hopefully, Hanski will be
better shortly.
Viviane managed an
amazing deal this week. A household shop was doing a clear-out sale and there
was an offer for the outdoor parasol (mushroom) gas heaters with a 70% discount
on the original CHF 330. The shop then gave her another 70% discount. So she
picked up 3 for the price of CH 27 each! There was still one left in the shop,
which was the one on show. When Viviane got back, we called to see if we could
have that one as well. The shop said "No problem. But seeing as it is the show
model, we may be able to give you a further discount!" We're curious to find out
how much we will be paying on Monday when we pick it up.
