Rowdy Brits, better business, and more staff problems

At last we are beginning to see signs of an upturn in business...

At last we are beginning to see signs of an upturn in business, even we are still below average. The weekend has been particularly busy and we can at last talk of being "back to normal". Remains to be seen if things carry on this way. Wednesday evening also saw a busy evening with rowdy Brits, who left a mess and even stole one of our bamboo plants. Why do people have to be such disrespectful vandals?

The turn of events has not been easy on the staff with all the health problems that we have been having. We have to thank Selina for saving the day. With Izzie finishing on Tuesday, George out of action for 2 weeks and having returned to the UK to "keep out of trouble", matters only got worse on Friday when Gaëlle fell sick and had to call for help in the middle of a rush at 9 pm, meaning that Alan had to step in and do back-to-back shifts as well as the opening on Saturday. Being short staffed also meant that we only had 2 in the evening rather than the usual 3, so that Alan was called back in to help out during the big Après-Ski rush at 9 pm.

Staff problems are not set to improve in the meantime even if Diana is joining us on Wednesday. Sara has been having constant problems with her shoulders since the beginning of the season. Apparently this is not a new problem. But the long and the short of the matter is that she is going to have to quit to return to Sweden to get herself sorted and probably have an operation. So we are going to have to replace her too, though she is going to be with us for the next two weeks anyhow. Putting a timetable together is proving to be a real nightmare.

On the positive side we have our steamer back. This was getting very urgent as the carpet has been getting grubbier by the day and was definitely nor p to our usual standard. It is now looking a lot better again.
