After the mid-term holidays it could be feared
that business would slump to the same levels as January, but fortunately this
has not been the case, and March is heading towards being the best month of the
season. We have seen considerable improvement to turnover during the weekends
and most evenings, though this still remains below previous years' levels. The
fault is clearly from the drop of internet usage which is down some 75% and
impacts heavily on the day shifts, so that oft-times two staff is almost a
luxury in the day-time. But the overall tendency seems to indicate that the
party crowds are returning. This was particularly noticeable on Friday evening
when a big group of very drunken Brits come in on Friday evening and pretty much
trashed the place. But at least they spent a lot of
money! The bad news for us is that Ben
is forced to leave us to have a knee operation and will be quitting next
Wednesday. As it is late in the season, and for the reasons explained above, we
will not be replacing him. If extra staff is required during the holidays. both
Gaƫlle and Sandy will be available to fill in, so we will just have a
hiatus for around 10 days that should be
manageable. We are very sorry to be
losing him. He has proved to be a real star and an inspiring team member. He
even created a quiz night with one of his mates that we have held twice on
Mondays that have packed the place with around 10 teams of 5 people. We hope to
be able to hold a third one on Monday week. Keep informed on our Facebook
page.Otherwise, we can pretty much say
that it is "business as usual" with nothing special to report. Even the hardware
is holding up, which makes a change...
